Kids In Disability Sports (K.I.D.S.) works to enrich the lives of children with disabilities through providing them sports and recreation activities. They also have a monthly dance, an annual sports banquet, and various sporting events. K.I.D.S. use a variety of recreational therapies and work in partnership with organizations to build opportunities. Members of K.I.D.S. establish life-long friendships and parents have the added benefit of contact with other families.

Yoga…Redefined has classes, including: yoga, creative movement, and dance. They have experience working with children of varying types of disabilities. They can work one-on-one with children, integrate them in a class with their typical peers, and/or also have classes for children with disabilities. Yoga…Redefined are interested in creating classes based on the available needs, or requests. Costs vary by the class. They do not have scholarships available, but please contact them if you have a financial need and they can sometimes provide discounts.

The Challenger Division of Pelham Little League Baseball is a program for youth with intellectual or physical disabilities, ages 5-18. It allows them to enjoy the full benefits of Little League participation in an athletic environment structured to their abilities. They utilize “Buddies” to assist, while encouraging the Challenge players to be as independent as possible. This Gym has an adaptive class for students on Saturday mornings. Parents can sign their children up for the class with a one-on-one, or to participate in the class individually. The class is for nine weeks, and is $150 (group participation), or $200 (with the one-on-one).

UpReach has two main programs that they offer. First, they have an equine facilitated mental health program that involves working with the horses on the ground (no riding). This is administered by a licensed clinical psychologist with assistance from an equine specialist. Some insurance companies can be billed for this service. Second, they have a therapeutic riding program which runs 6-8 weeks. The application for the program is available online, and scholarships sometimes are available.
