Welcome Back!Hello Parents and Staff,

From all indications, it was a very successful and smooth start to the school year.  I visited each of the schools today and it was nice to see the students come back from vacation, as well as it was to see the joy in the staff and administrators to have them return.  We have one principal who celebrated her 45th first day of school today and she was just as excited today as she was on her first day she began her career.  The students I saw today were equally excited and seemed ready to get the year off to a great start.  This includes the senior class at Alvirne who started to arrive at school at 6 am to kick off their last year in the district.   Next week I will be giving the first graders their “Class of 2031” shirts as their journey to graduation takes its next step.

The beginning of every year is made more successful by the hard work and time teachers, custodians, maintenance crew, grounds crew and paraprofessionals put into preparing for the students.  The classrooms looked great and the students went right into the routine of learning without a hitch.  The First Student buses collectively had a total of 10 late minutes arriving to schools and that is reflective of the upfront work they do to get the students to school on time and the coordination of our transportation professionals.

We are always working to improve our communication and welcome your feedback on how we can improve.  Communication will be a major theme for the school district this year.  We hope our increased efforts will keep you better informed and prevent the misunderstandings when communication doesn’t meet the standard you deserve.

On another note, the school district will host two information sessions, followed by a question and answer sessions regarding the five high school renovation options which were presented to the Hudson School Board on Monday.  We need your input, so I hope that every parent and staff member who has availability to attend these sessions will do so.  You can preview the plans for the renovation on our website www.sau81.org. The date, time and places are as follows:

Wednesday, September 4th at Alvirne High School (Music Room by the main entrance) from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Thursday, September 5th at the Hudson Community Center (Lions Ave) from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
My door is always open if you have any questions or concerns.  I hope to see you at the upcoming information sessions and wish everyone a safe, successful and rewarding school year.
